26’-27’ Wilderness First Aid

Overview: Prepare for the unexpected with this hands-on introduction to wilderness medicine, offered in partnership with SOLO Wilderness Medicine. This 16-20 hour course is for anyone who spends time in the outdoors, whether you work in a wilderness setting, enjoy outdoor recreation, or want to be better prepared for emergencies in remote environments. Instruction will be a mix of classroom learning and outdoor scenarios, held regardless of weather conditions.

Course Outcomes:

• Use the Patient Assessment System to evaluate and manage patients in wilderness settings.
• Provide effective first aid treatment for common wilderness injuries and illnesses, including fractures, sprains, burns, and hypothermia.
• Make informed evacuation decisions and understand when and how to seek advanced medical care.
• Gain confidence in handling medical emergencies with limited resources.
• Earn optional SOLO CPR certification: follows AHA standards
